Blog Relaunched - 2026 edition
100% human-written — no AI tools are used to write these posts.
Almost three years since my last blog post - it’s about time I suppose. :)
No AI slop - promise
Most of my blog post were just a braindump of something I cared about or did do recently. I’d like to honor this tradition!
I am not going to use AI to generate blog post, everything will be hand crafted - even the misspellings. I might create a graphic to illustrate a point (I’ll mark that and add the prompt so you can recreate it).
Granted, that you need to trust me on this as we’ll see more and more AI weirdness which would even enable me to mimic my misspellings.
What did I do?
Since the last blog post I worked for the Max Planck Institute for Human Development (like mid-2023 until end of 2024). I helped them to reshape the lifecycle of users within the IT (sounds creepy). What was a multi-source-of-truth operation before (everyone did it as they saw fit), became a single-source-of-truth operation based on Jira. An totally un-HPC thing to do; but it was fun nonetheless.
Since late 2024 I work for MemVerge. The first year to help MemVerges Checkpoint/Restore tech get pushed to AWS Batch under the name MemoryMachine Batch.
The outgoing 2025 let MemVerge shift gears a bit and go full steam ahead on AI Memory. The project is called MemMachine and is open-source (github.com/MemMachine/MemMachine). There is more to it - a cool new project in the making and enterprise offerings to be pushed as well.
AI FTW
Since the begining AI was always of interest to me, but not the center stage - so I am greatful that I got pushed into the AI pool heads first a couple of month ago.
What am I going to write about?
There’s so much going on in the AI space - that’s going to be certainly an area.
As usual I’d like to grab a beer and think about how this reflects in the long shadow of the past 25 years I do IT. What does that mean for the IT sector, how do we hire, how do we write code, where is HPC going in this,…
I got myself a Strix Halo machine (Framework Desktop) before memory became the new gold - a lot of self-hosted reflection to go around as well.
Pretty sure it’s going to be a fun 2026 (and beyond). Some events in 2026 to look out for:
- High Performance Container Workshop 2026: Going to be about HPC and AI - we are refining together the agenda the next couple of weeks.
- BoF about AI Hubs at ISC26
I even would like to pick up my podcast eventually - need to figure out with whom and in which cadence. Let’s see…
So long!
